Top spot didn't come serenely, mind - Walkabout needed a one-point escape against the second-bottom Phils to nail it down. Corio, meanwhile, chose the worst possible week to fall over, rolled by the tenth-placed Boner - James Rowbottom's 66 in the tackle slot and a rampant Boner midfield undoing them despite Ned Moyle's work in the ruck. Cazzu kept pace by accounting for Flannie, so the two chasers stay locked together. And at the foot of the table, Bethnal Green Village have all but gift-wrapped the wooden spoon - whispers suggest they're lining up James Hird to coach next year, just the man to inject a little something extra into the program, no questions asked.
